Best known as a global superstar, Whitney Houston, was also an athlete and an avid tennis player. She comes from a family of professional athletes, including her brother, Gary Houston, a former NBA player with the Denver Nuggets. When Whitney lived in her New Jersey mansion, she had tennis courts and played regularly with family and friends. Later, when she moved to Alpharetta, she played tennis with her then manager
Pat Houston.
“The first Whitney E. Houston Annual Tournament was a huge success,” says Pat Houston. “It was great to meet so many members of both the Alpharetta and the Atlanta
Metro communities who came out to support the event and enjoy an afternoon of Pickleball, fun and community. We were also excited that Kyle Sloter, former NFL player
of Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings, joined and played with us.
I would like to thank Chris Wolfe and the entire team at the Atlanta National Pickleball Club, who provided us with a wonderful facility and organized the tournament activities.
Additionally, on behalf of the Foundation, I would like to give a special thank you to our host committee, who leveraged their professional contacts and resources to help make
the tournament a success.”

Pat Houston concludes, “Whitney would have been proud of our inaugural event. She loved tennis and sports, and we spent a great deal of time on the courts.
She was always up for a new challenge. She would have loved pickleball and would have played as my
partner. As the Foundation expands the tournament, we will continue to collaborate with members of the Atlanta community and beyond to seek out young athletes and engage
them in learning Pickleball.”
On behalf of the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, we would like to thank our generous sponsors, including our title sponsor HEAD Pickleball, along with sponsors
Perryscope Rockware, Athletes Water and Sports Fitness Artist Management.
We would also like to thank our gifting partners HEAD Pickleball, Medase Cocktails, SPOOGE, Pretties and Game On Sports.
